One of the worst “Saw” imitators I have seen so far.  Where other knockoffs at least have a decent story, setting, or acting, this film has none of the above.  The characters deliver stale acting and could make you care less as each of them is killed off.  The only thing really scary here is that this movie somehow got a recently released sequel.

Funny Games is by no means a typical horror thrill-ride of blood and guts.  In fact, those looking for gore should go elsewhere.  The film depicts nearly all of the violence off camera, and is left purely to the viewers imagination resulting in an ever more disturbing film.

Note:  An identical shot-for-shot American remake was made in 2007.  However, the better acting of the original contributes to a much more effective experience.
