Horrorfest Administrator Review
Funny Games is by no means a typical horror thrill-ride of blood and guts. In fact, those looking for gore should go elsewhere. The film depicts nearly all of the violence off camera, and is left purely to the viewers imagination resulting in a more disturbing film. While it is terrorizing at times, the intruders’ acting falls short of the unsettling yet brilliant job done by the actors in the original 1997 version.
Note: Viewers not fazed by subtitles should check out the 1997 Austrian version. Although the films are shot-for-shot identical, the better acting contributes to a much more effective experience.
